Events in and around Adelaide Plains

It's that time of year again! Adelaide Plains in South Australia is teeming with exciting and fun events to keep you entertained throughout the year. We've put together a comprehensive list of some of the best things you can do in the region, no matter what the season!

Summer

The Adelaide Plains is full of festivals and events timed perfectly for summertime. One of the highlights is the Semaphore Street Fair, which happens annually in November. This fun-packed event transforms Semaphore Road into a buzzing street party that offers everything from food stalls and entertainment to music and street performers. You can enjoy an atmosphere of warmth, friendliness and sheer joy, and soak in the party-like atmosphere with delight.

Another exciting event to look out for during summers is the Tour Down Under. This cycling event takes place annually in January, attracting hundreds of riders and spectators alike. It's an opportunity to witness some of the best professional cyclists across the world in action and revel in the electric atmosphere on the streets. Be sure to head down to King William Road in Hyde Park and cheer on the riders.

Autumn

As the weather cools down, Adelaide Plains still boasts of a flurry of activity. One event that should top the list is the Adelaide Fringe. It's the largest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere, bringing together a blend of theatre, dance, music, comedy, circus, cabaret and a whole lot more. From late February to mid-March, the streets and venues around Adelaide Plains come alive with performances, parades and general mayhem.

If you’re looking for a more mellow way to spend your Autumn weeknights or weekends, check out the Garden of Unearthly Delights. It's a pop-up park nestled in-between the legs of the iconic Rundle Park Ferris Wheel. Filled with live music, comedy acts, kids entertainment, and jugglers, it's a true carnival-like experience that boasts of a lot of surprises and fun.

Winter

Don't let the chilly winter weather get you down in Adelaide Plains as there's still plenty of fun to be had! Head to the Adelaide Hills for a spine-chilling sight of the Winter Reds Festival. For a whole weekend in July, cellar doors in Adelaide Hills open their doors to visitors for wine tastings around cosy fires, live music, loads of food, and an atmosphere of pure indulgence.

If you're looking to stay indoors and keep warm, consider dropping by the Adelaide International Guitar Festival. It's a biennial event that occurs in winter and features some of the world's most talented guitarists. With over 50 events held across several venues, there's something for everyone. From masterclasses and workshops to concerts and intimate performances featuring different styles of the guitar, it's the perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Spring

Finally, as spring approaches, Adelaide Plains has music on its mind! One event to put on your spring bucket list is the Seacliff SpringFest. Held annually in October, it's a community-organised festival that celebrates the change of seasons and features live music, art exhibits, kid zone, food trucks and carnival rides. The atmosphere is perfect for family and friends to come together and enjoy a fun day out.

Another event to look out for in Spring is the Adelaide 500. It’s Australia's largest domestic motorsport series and is the launching pad for the V8 Supercars Championship. Over a long weekend in late February, the streets of Adelaide Plains turn into a high-octane racing circuit, where you can experience the world's most adrenaline-fueled cars compete in front of large crowds.
